Cleaning the System
If you follow the maintenance recommendations, you should only need to clean the Eden Garden
every 6 months or so.
We strongly recommend you plan to clean the system when you a finished a harvest. Try to get
the water a low as possible to make moving the reservoir easier. This will make cleaning the
system quite simple and much quicker.
Cleaning a System after a harvest:
1. Un-plug the pump.
2. Drain the Trays by lifting the trays on the end opposite of the tray outlet. *Be careful to not
lift the tray too high, too quick. This might cause the water to dump faster than the drain
can handle and drip water on the floor*
3. Once the Trays have been drained. Remove the 90 and pull the hose back to the
reservoir as seen on Pg. 28.
4. You can now safely take the trays to a shower, or wash station and clean them. When
carrying the trays, tilt them with drain end raised. Clean the trays and tray lids with just
water and a cloth. There is no need to use a detergent, or sanitizer unless you have been
told to (cleaning bacterial outbreak, or fungal outbreak).
5. Once the Trays and lids have been cleaned you can clean the reservoir. The best
practice is to remove as much water as possible before you lift the reservoir. Use 2
people to lift the reservoir. *The water will flow back and forward as you move the
reservoir; this can make it difficult to hold onto as the weight is shifting*. Take your
time.
6. Once the Reservoir is clean you can assemble the system together again.
Follow Pg. 6-11.
