Maintenance
If you keep the system clean and prevent debris from falling into the reservoir,
you can reduce the maintenance substantially. The Eden Garden does not
require much maintenance if you keep on top of things.
1. Most importantly remove dead plant matter from the system. This includes
leaves that fall off the plant, harvested plant remains, and roots from the
plants after they are harvested. Do not leave roots in the system after the
plant has been harvested. If the roots are left to rot in the water it will cause
your PH to increase and lead to many other problems.
2. Periodically check the 90 / trays to make sure that water is pumping, and the
trays all have water in them. Take this time to check the level of water in the
reservoir as well. You should do this at least once a week but aim to make it a
daily routine.
3. Once a week check the PH to confirm that it is between 5.5 – 6.5. If the PH is
not in the range, you may need to add PH buffers, or even clean the system.
4. As the plants grow you will need to raise the lights to make sure the plants do
not get burnt on the bulbs. Try to keep the plants 6-8 inches above the tallest
plant.
5. If the PH of the water in the system goes up, if the water gets cloudy or full of
algae, you may need to just clean out the system and replace the water. This
is the best way to fix issues with the system. This is the reset button if the
garden completely stops growing. The water should stay clear, and maybe
have a slight green or blue ting to it. If it gets cloudy you will need to replace
the water and clean the system.
