Now that you know the ratios and lifecycles, we can finally add water and test for 

leaks / proper assembly. Always add water and nutrients together. Do not add 

water one day and nutrients the next day. This avoids confusion and keeps things 

simple.

Determine the lifecycle you are growing in. Likely this is a new garden, so you 

will be looking at the 1:1:1. This means 1 ml for each liter of water you add. If 

you are using  a 5 gallon (20 Liter) jug then you will simply add 20 ml of each 

nutrients (Grow, Micro, and Bloom) to the jug. 

Use the syringe provided to 

accurately measure the required nutrients

After the nutrients has been added to the jug of water, you can pour it all into 

the reservoir.

After confirming there are no defects with the pump, or frayed wires, you can 

plug the Hydroponic Water Pump in and check to confirm that the water 

circulates through each tray and returns to the Reservoir. If your pump does 

not work refer to the “Troubleshooting Section”. Use this time to make sure 

nothing leaks and the water level in the trays is fairly level between the 

different rows.

If levels are not even in the trays you may have assembled something wrong 

or you are not on a level surface. Shim the trays if possible or move the 

system to a level spot. Unlevel trays can cause issues with water flowing over 

the middle section of the tray which stop fresh water / nutrients from getting to 

the plants downstream. This can cause plants to die or be severely stunted.   

 
You will we need to add water / nutrients to your system as the plants use it up. To 

start this will likely not be needed for a few weeks with 5 gallons (20 liters) of water. 

You can add water whenever you want, but make sure water is always covering the 

pump. The best indicator water needs to be added is that the top of the pump is 

showing. The pump will overheat and burn out if the water gets to low. Remember 

to also add nutrients and water together.  
 
Now that we have added our water and nutrients and tested for leaks, we can finally 

move on to planting!
