The alphanumeric display aids troubleshooting by displaying codes provided by firmware
and software test programs.  In interpreting the codes, pay special attention to the left-most
element.  As shown in Figure A-1, this element can have four distinct states, and reading
the display correctly is critical to interpreting the code.
