Step Procedure 9--4 Intercept Using Heading Select

Select ACTIVATE (6R) or CLEAR (6L).

The defined temporary TO INTERCEPT waypoint is
inserted into the flight plan, as shown in Figure 9--12.

When an intercept using heading select is flown, the FMS disengages
at the beginning of the heading select leg. For the example shown in
Procedure 9--4, the FMS disengages when crossing DRK. The aircraft
heading must be adjusted to intercept the inbound course. Adjusting the
aircraft heading is done manually or by using the flight director heading
function. LNAV must be armed in preparation for the intercept.
NOTE:
The intercept using heading select feature is useful when the
aircraft is being vectored for final or when flying heading
select after takeoff to intercept a course onto the flight plan.
