6.4.2.3 Sample installation for cable adapter
Remote antennas may only be installed with the antenna adapter
PCB and mounting bracket. The PCB is fixed to the position of
the HUB mounting screw on the USB HUB. The antenna con-
nector (SMA) is connected to the input socket on the GSM ter-
minal (MMCX) by means of the aforementioned cable adapter.
The mounting bracket mechanically fixes the plug connection to
the screw connection on the USB-HUB (see mounting example).
Screw in the antenna connection on both ends of the cable
adapter, then insert the MMCX connector in the GSM ter-
minal until an audible click is heard.
Mount the mounting bracket with screws and
nuts as shown in the picture. This type of mount-
ing allows optimum cable routing and the best
possible fixation of the PCB on the base of the
housing.
Ensure that the contact of the antenna connec-
tion is correct. Never bend the antenna wire or
select a bending radius that is too small. Route
the antenna cable inside the housing as short as
possible. No mechanical stress or tension must
be applied to the cable.
Any kind of mechanical stress on the antenna cable must
be avoided!
Connect the wires between the cable adapter and the
remote antenna.
6.4.3 Note on selection of the power supply
The power intake of the 4G transmission module is very heavily dependent on the type of trans-
mission as well as on the wireless frequency used. In active operation, the power intake fluctuates
between approx. 160 mA and 260 mA. This is dependent on the operating mode used (GPRS,
EDGE, UMTS, HSPA, LTE) and the associated frequency band.
6.4.4 Notes on programming and LED displays
For the use and operation of the GSM terminal, the following important points must be taken into
account in addition to proper installation:
Connect all the cables required for the power supply of the components according to the
wiring diagram.
Switch on the mains voltage, check the battery charging voltage at the power supply unit
(battery connection cable) and then connect the battery.
Carry out programming of the transmission device. Further information on this can be found
in the respective installation instructions enclosed with the transmission device.
Wait until the GSM terminal registers in the mobile phone network. Observe the LED display
on the terminal!
