Continuously Variable Transmission models
Park (P): Used for parking or starting/
stopping the engine. Press the brake
pedal, then press the release button to
shift.
Reverse (R): Used for reversing.
Neutral (N): Used for idling.
Drive (D): Used for normal driving.
Drive (S): Used for better acceleration,
increased engine braking, driving in
hilly terrain, or paddle shifting

When you change the shift lever from D to R and vice versa, come to a
complete stop and keep the brake pedal depressed. Operating the shift
lever before the vehicle has come to a complete standstill can damage the
transmission.
Manual Transmission models

Fully press the clutch pedal to operate
the shift lever and change gears, then
slowly release the pedal.
Do not shift to Reverse (R) before the
vehicle comes to a complete stop. This
can damage the transmission.

Before downshifting, make sure the engine will not go into the tachometer's
red zone. Should this occur, it can severely damage your engine.

Slow down or stop your vehicle, and keep it from moving when parked.

Foot Brake
Press the brake pedal to slow down or stop your vehicle from moving.
Your vehicle is equipped with disc brakes at all four wheels. A vacuum
power assist helps reduce the effort needed on the brake pedal. The brake
assist system increases the stopping force when you depress the brake
pedal hard in an emergency situation. The anti-lock brake system (ABS)
helps you retain steering control when braking very hard.

Electric Parking Brake
Keep the vehicle from moving when it is parked.
Use the parking brake to keep the vehicle stationary when parked. When
the parking brake is applied, you can manually or automatically release it.
To apply
The electric parking brake can be
applied any time the vehicle has
battery, no matter whichposition the
ignition switch

is in.
Pull the electric parking brake switch
up gently and securely.
The parking brake and brake system
indicator (red) comes on.
To release
1. The power mode must be in the ON
position to release the electric
parking brake.
2. Depress the brake pedal.
3. Press the electric parking brake
switch.

Automatic Brake Hold
Continuously Variable Transmission models
Keeps the brake applied after releasing the brake pedal until the
accelerator pedal is pressed. You can use this system while the vehicle is
temporarily stopped, like at traffic lights and in heavy traffic.
