OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
• Use a commercially available coffee pod which fits the filter. Follow the instructions on the package to
position the pod correctly in the filter.
• Attach the filter holder to the brew head. Begin with the handle pointing to the left, and turn it to the right,
until it is firmly locked in place.
• Follow the steps for the preparation of espresso as described in section
Preparation with ground espresso
.
Frothing milk - Cappuccino preparation
• Check to make sure there is enough water in the water tank (3).
• Use a sufficiently large cup to prepare the espresso.
•
Caution! Risk of Burning!
During operation the steam/hot water jet (6) gets very hot. Do not touch it with
your hands.
• Turn the function knob (5) to position (steam). Wait until the
OK
indicator light (1) comes on. It indicates
that the device has reached the correct temperature to produce steam.
•
Note:
When operating in steam mode and with the steam/hot water control (4) turned off, some water may
drip from the filter holder (10). This water collects in the drip tray (13). Alternatively you can place a cup
under the filter holder.
• Best results are achieved using cold UHT-milk (1.5% fat). The milk volume may double or even triple during
frothing. Always use a container of sufficient size (i.e. a frothing pitcher).
•
Important!
Never froth milk longer than 2 minutes.
• Put the pitcher under the steam/hot water jet (6), and immerse it in the
milk (fig.3). Turn the steam/hot water control (4) counterclockwise. The
amount of steam will vary depending on the control setting.
• The milk will increase in volume and begin to foam. When the milk volume
has doubled, immerse the jet deeper and move the pitcher lightly up and
down. This warms the milk more.
• When you are satisfied with the foam and the milk is hot enough, turn the
steam/hot water control to the
STEAM OFF
position.
•
Important!
Do not boil the milk. This will spoil the taste of your espresso.
• Pour the milk from the bottom of the pitcher into the previously prepared
espresso.
• Ladle the milk foam on top of your espresso. Sprinkle some cocoa powder
over the foam, and serve the cappuccino.
•
Suggestion:
If you want to make more than one cappuccino, make all the
espressos first and froth the milk after.
• Clean the steam/hot water jet (6) after each use as described in section
CLEANING AND CARE
.
