Wet installation with automatic coupling system
The following introductions are for the installation of the
original HOMA coupling system:
•
Approximately determine the position of the coupling
foot and the upper pipe bracket for the guide pipe;
use plumb bob if necessary.
•
Check correct installation dimensions of the pump(s)
(see dimensional drawings in the annex).
•
Bore holes for the pipe bracket in the inner edge of
the shaft opening. If this is not possible for reasons of
space, the pipe bracket can also be fitted offset at an
angle with a 90° bent angle bracket at the underside
of the shaft cover. Temporarily attach the pipe bracket
using 2 screws.
•
Align the coupling foot on the shaft floor, use plumb
bob from the pipe console; the guide pipes must
stand exactly perpendicular! Attach the coupling foot
to the shaft floor using heavy-duty anchors. Ensure
the exact horizontal position of the coupling foot!
Support the bearing surface accordingly if the shaft
floor is uneven.
•
Install the discharge line with fittings while de-ener-
gized according to known installation principles.
•
Place both guide pipes in the eyes on the clutch
foot and correspondingly cut the position of the pipe
bracket to measure. Unscrew pipe bracket, place the
spigots into the guide pipe and permanently attach
the bracket. The guide pipes must sit absolutely free
of play, as loud noises otherwise occur when operat-
ing the pump.
•
Clean shaft before commissioning solids (debris,
stones etc.).
•
Install the coupling counter flange of the automatic
coupling system to the pump‘s discharge nozzles
(threaded or flanged connection). Ensure that the rub-
ber profile seal (as a seal against the coupling foot) is
installed tightly in its seat in the counter flange, so
that falling out when lowering the pump is excluded.
•
Fix the hose band (equipment supplied) on the han-
dle.
•
Attach chain to the hose band on the handle. Guide
pump between the guide pipes in the shaft using the
guide jaws of the coupling counter flange. Lower the
pump into the shaft. When the pump is sitting on the
coupling foot, it automatically seals itself from the
discharge line and is ready for operation.
•
Hang the lowering chain on a hook at the shaft open-
ing.
•
Hang the motor connection cable of the pump into
the shaft with an appropriate length of strain relief.
Ensure that the cables cannot be bent or damaged.
Automatic float switch
If the water level increases to a determined maximum lev-
el (switching point), the floating float switches the pump
automatically on. If the water level is sunk to a determined
minimum level (tripping point) due to pumping down, the
float switches the pump off.
The reacting distance, e.g. the water level difference be-
tween switching point and tripping point can be deter-
mined individually.
Please note the following information for perfect function:
•
The mountings as well as the length of the freely
moveable end of the float cable must be adjusted to
the desired switch level. It has to be ensured here
that the switch level of the pump is below the en-
trance pipe so that an obstruction of the pumping
medium can be avoided. The tripping point must be
above the upper edge of the pump casing so that no
air pockets can develop in the pump, which requires
under circumstances de-aerating of the pump.
•
Under no circumstances the float with the cable must
be thrown into the medium, since correct switch is
only possible with a rotational movement of the float
around the mounting point of the cable. Possible con-
sequences in the event of non-compliance are flood-
ing (the pump does not start)/destruction of the pump
due to dry run (the pump does not switch off).
•
When using separate floats for start of the pump,
stop of the pump and alarm the switch levels have to
be chosen as described above. The alarm float should
switch approximately 10 cm above the switch point
of the pump, however always below the input.
•
Important:
After each change of the mounting of the
float a correct function of the float switch must be
checked with a test run.
By directly connecting the float switch in the pump,
the pump turns on automatically if this switch is trig-
gered manually! Therefore, make sure that the pump
is not connected if you are working on the float.
5.3. Use of chains
Chains are used to lower/lift the pump into/out of the me-
chanical room. They are not provided for securing a float-
ing pump.
For use according the instructions follow these steps:
•
Fix one end of the chain at the provided hose band on
the handle of the pump.
•
Fix the other end on the lifting device.
•
Tighten the chain and lift the pump slowly and in a
controlled manner.
•
Swing the pump subsequently over the mechanical
room and lower it carefully. When using a suspension
device, also observe Section 5. Commissioning.
•
Lower the pump as far as the operation point and
ensure a steady position of the pump and that the
coupling system is correctly connected.
•
Remove the chain from the lifting device and safe-
guard this on the chain guard, which is at the upper
edge of the mechanical room. This ensures that the
chain cannot fall into the mechanical room and does
not pose danger to anyone.
