1 INTRODUCTION
This user manual contains instructions for the storage, installation, operation, cleaning and maintenance of the
products supplied.
It also contains important information for avoiding accidents and serious damage before setting up the product
and to ensure that it functions as safely as possible without malfunction.
This user manual is part of the shipment of the horsefly trap you have purchased. Keep this manual in a safe
place near the horsefly trap or in its immediate vicinity.
Read these instructions carefully before setting up and using the purchased trap. Ensure
that all persons who use and maintain the trap are familiar with this user manual; they
must be informed about the functioning of this trap and follow the instructions given.
For information regarding maintenance or repairs not covered by these instructions,
please contact the service department of Holland Animal Care.
2 STORAGE AND EXPIRY
2.1 Storage and conservation
If the trap is to be stored for a longer period of time, place the entire trap in a dry room where large
temperature fluctuations cannot occur. The lure ball, the cover, trap and reservoir should always be stored and
covered in a dry, frost-free place.
2.2 Re-use and disposal
At the end of the lifespan of the trap or its parts, the relevant materials and parts must be re-used or disposed
of in an environmentally responsible manner.
3 PLACEMENT OF THE HORSEFLY TRAP
3.1 Proper placement
Follow these guidelines for the best positioning of the horsefly trap:
• Preferably place the trap in a place where it is in the sun all day;
• Do not set the trap on a draughty place – horseflies hate the wind;
• Set the trap in such a way that horseflies have a clear view to the trap from all sides.
3.2 Using the trap near horses or cattle
• Place the trap, as a competitive lure, as close to the animals as possible;
• Place the trap out of reach of the animals, so they cannot damage it;
• Place the trap near the area where the animals urinate or near a manure storage area.
