Digital TELETEXT services
Digital TELETEXT services are data services provided by digital
terrestrial broadcasters. Compared to conventional TELETEXT, Digital
TELETEXT will give you even more sophisticated presentation with
advanced graphics and clearer text in addition to user friendly operation.
In the services list, you can see BBC TEXT, Teletext and Four TEXT etc.
When you select one of those services, you may see “DATA SERVICE” in
the banner.
Digital TELETEXT services can be selected in the same way as other
services. Have a go by entering 10 on your handset for BBC TEXT.
You may also find that the TELETEXT services are sometimes
linked with the TV picture in which you will see a message to
access a data service that is behind the TV picture. For
example BBC knowledge suggests pressing “RED” or “BLUE”
keys to access more information or with BBC1 & BBC2 you
can use the TEXT key to move straight to the BBC
TELETEXT service.
Note: While watching a TELETEXT service, if you press the
MENU key, INFO key or TV key, the TELETEXT system will
reload showing the picture above.
PLEASE NOTE: Your handset will be of
the type shown opposite, not as
shown on your TV screen
...and you will then see the TELETEXT main
menu appear on screen. Just follow the
instructions displayed.
Shortly afterwards, this is followed by the
message “Data service loading. Please wait...” ...
There may be a slight delay after programme
change, before you can use these special services.
IMPORTANT: The teletext services and similar data services that run your TV may
occasionally stop responding to you. This is similar to the way a computer may freeze. In order
to restart the service, just press the TV key on your handset.
