A high residual voltage is generated in an
object under insulation resistance testing.
High residual voltages generated in an
object placed under high test voltage condi-
tions results in charge being stored, and
then released under a subsequent test
involving lower test voltages.

Action:
• Stop measurement and discharge the

charge stored in the object under test
before resuming measurement.

• Even if the voltage has been lowered by

the tester’s automatic discharge function,
a high voltage may exist. Discharge using
a commercial discharging rod for high volt-
age.
