Chapter 6 Troubleshooting
Overview
This chapter provides solutions to some common problems of Hillstone SG-6000 X-
Series devices.
Losing the Administrator Password
If you lose the administrator password, please contact your local sales representative
or you can reset the system to restore its factory password. (Warning: System
resetting restores its factory default settings and all your configurations will be lost.)
Troubleshooting the Expansion Module
This section describes how to troubleshoot expansion module problems. The steps are:
Verify that the expansion module is closely connecting the chassis and all the
screws are tightened.
Use the command
show module
to view the status of all modules on the
command line interface.
Troubleshooting the Cooling System
The cooling system consists of two fan trays and an air filter. A malfunctioning fan
tray or dust-full air filter can influence the ventilation through the chassis. When the
system is over heated, it will shut itself down.
When the cooling system is malfunctioned, take the following steps to troubleshoot:
Use the command show environment to view the chassis temperature and fan
spinning speed.
Check the fan LED indicator. When the fans are normally running, the LED is
steady green; when it is red, one or more fans fail, and you should replace a fan
tray immediately to prevent over-heating of the system. See

Check the PWR LED on the front panel of the appliance. If the power supply is
functioning normally, the PWR LED lights steadily in green color. If the LED is off,
