13. Make sure that the power cord does not
become entangled in the barriers of the bed.
14. Use the strap loops (on the right of the
device) and the Velcro® straps provided to
keep the entire length of the device in place
.
15. Connect the power cord to the wall outlet.
With articulated frames, make sure that the power cord is not attached to
any mobile parts, nor jammed anywhere to prevent it from being cut.
16. Switch on the main switch on the right of the
control unit.
17. Press
to start the device.
The corresponding indicator light comes on.
When connected to the mains power for the first time, the device will
automatically inflate to maximum inflation (P-max) to fully expand the air
bladders.
It then automatically returns to the default mode:
Comfort Setting “5”, “Alternating Low Pressure” Mode, 10 minute cycle.
Do not place the patient on the mattress while the red indicator light is
on during the initial inflation phase.
18. Note the position of the CPR valve. The CPR valve must remain accessible
for use in the event of emergency deflation.
Placing a cotton sheet on the mattress will improve patient comfort and make
it easier to administer care.
