1. Safety instructions
CAUTION: Read carefully before starting up !
Please observe the notes in the operating instructions carefully. In case of non-observation, the
warranty claims will become void. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any damage and/or
consequential damage resulting.
Keep away from children
: Do not let children play with the device or in the vicinity of the device.
Electrical connection
: HEYLO/DriEaz dehumidifiers are designed for operation with 230V/50Hz.
Only use with a three pin plug! Sockets used must be earthed or secured with a current circuit breaker
in the house installation.
Protect power cable from damage
: Never use the device with a damaged power cable. If the power
cable is damaged, it must be replaced by a cable of the same type and dimensions.
Extension cable
: Only use permitted extension cables!
Handle with care
: Do not let the device fall and do not throw it, since components or wiring could get
damaged as a result.
Let it run on a firm surface
: Always install the device on a firm, even surface.
Secure it during transport
: Secure device against slipping when transporting it in vehicles.
Keep it dry
: The device should not be operated in puddles or stagnant water. Do not store or operate
in the open air. If the electrical wiring or parts of the device become wet, the device must be
thoroughly dried before re-using.
Keep the air vents free
: Do not cover or block the air inlets and outlets.
Keep the filters clean
: Always use a clean air filter. Do not let the filter get blocked, since the de-
humidifier can overheat otherwise. Make sure that no oil, grease or other contaminants are suctioned
into the dehumidifier.
Repairing the device
: Please only get repairs done by HEYLO service partners. You can obtain
information on permitted service engineers by phone, fax or e-mail:
2. Functioning and de-humidification performance
These HEYLO/DriEaz devices are cold dryers. They function through the blowing of moist air out of
the room through a cold humidification line. The moisture condenses on the line, drips off and is then
removed through the condensation conveying pump and the drainage hose. The now warmer and
drier air returns to the room and absorbs water vapour again there.
If the dehumidifier functions at a room temperature less than approx. 20°C, frost will normally form on
the humidification line. The control electronics regularly interrupts the de-humidification operation to
thaw the evaporator. A considerable amount of water runs out of the device during this time. As soon
as the ice has melted, normal operation starts again. How fast water is removed in all dehumidifiers
depends on the air humidity and air temperature. As far as possible, the performance of the
dehumidifier must be measured by how fast the air humidity drops and not by how much water is
withdrawn from it. The exact air humidity can be measured with a thermo hygrometer.
The device is fitted with an automatic hot gas thawing element. The device switches itself off at regular
intervals for a couple of minutes and thaws the frozen condensate from the cold evaporator. This
occurs by introducing hot gas into the evaporator. This function enables extremely short thawing times
and thus a high efficiency in the de-humidification operation. Controlled by a thermostat, the device
automatically starts operation again, once the entire condensate has drained off.
3. Installing the device
The dryer should be operated in a closed room to achieve best performance. Close all openings to
other parts of the building, such as windows and doors, so that moist air does not mix with the air in
the areas to be dried. Open and close doors as little as possible. A so called closed drying chamber is
formed in this way. Use as many devices as is required to achieve three times the air exchange.
Air should be able to circulate freely within the drying chamber. Open internal doors and use fans to
achieve good circulation of air in all areas. Install the dryer in such a way that inflow of air is not limited
by the inlet and outlet. Do not install close to loose material, such as curtains, for example.
