MAINTENANCE
A. Cleaning:
Regular cleaning will greatly contribute to the life of your spreader. Accumulations of chemicals cause
corrosion and build-up that is harmful. Empty and clean the unit after each days use, if possible, and
certainly if it will stand idle for any length of time.
High pressure water and steam are two effective cleaning agents. Park the unit with engine end lower
than the other. Block up the conveyor chain to ensure all salt or chemicals are washed away.
Thoroughly clean the rear end spinner assembly as accumulations here can affect the spread pattern.
Also, take special care when cleaning the floor; build-up here can cause damage to the conveying
system.
B: Storage:
Before storing, complete the following maintenance procedures.
1. Clean the unit thoroughly as directed in the cleaning instructions above.
2. Lubricate the unit thoroughly. Momentarily run the spreader to lubricate the sprockets..
3. Check the gearcase fluid levels.
4. Check for any parts that need replacing.
5. Sand, clean any rusty areas, and repaint with a metal primer and finish coat. Paint will retard
further corrosion and improve the appearance of the unit.
6. Store the unit with one end low for drainage.
