Appliance Setup

A. Remove Shipping Materials
Remove shipping materials from inside or underneath the
firebox.
B. Clean the Appliance
Clean/vacuum any sawdust that may have accumulated
inside the firebox or underneath in the control cavity.
C. Accessories
Install approved accessories per instructions included with
accessories. See Service Parts List for appropriate ac-
cessories. Refer to Section 13.
Shock or fire risk.
Use ONLY optional accessories approved for
this appliance.
• Using non-listed accessories voids
warranty.
• Using non-listed accessories may result in
a safety hazard.
• Only Hearth & Home Technologies
approved accessories may be used safely.

D. Lava Rock, Ember Bed, Grate Assembly
and Placement
• Follow ember placement instructions in
manual.
• Do NOT place embers directly over
burner ports.
• Replace ember material annually.

Improperly placed embers interferes with proper burner
operation.
Placing the Ember Bed and Grate Assembly
• Raise grate and place ember bed on floor of firebox (see
Figure 9.1). Ensure ember bed does not cover burner.
• Ensure burner tube is positioned on raised burner sup-
ports.
• Ensure grate assembly is over burner assembly ember
bed. Center from left to right. Place back legs in grate
brackets (see Figure 9.1).

Placing Lava Rock
• After logs have been placed spread part of the lava rock
(included) between the burner and ashlip (see Figure 9.2).
• Do NOT use the entire bag of lava rock. Save remainder
for future use.
