OVERHEATING OF MOTOR
The Roto has been operated for long periods of time on low voltages, which causes excessively
high operation temperatures which, in turn, may result in damage to the insulation on the wind
ing. Low voltage may result from using an extension cord of lesser wire size than #12.
It is recommended to obtain a #12 three-wire extension cord if it is necessary to use more than
one 50 foot cord.
NOTE:
The 17” and 20” machine (1-1/2 HP) motor plate states a 40 degree C (centigrade)
heat rise. This means a rise of 104 degrees F (Fahrenheit). Add to this 70 degrees F
for room temperature, and you will find that the motor will seem very hot (174 degrees F).
This is not cause for alarm.
NOTE:
Motors can normally run too hot to touch. An overheated motor may give off an oder, run slow,
start slow, blow fuses, and get hot enough to boil water on its surface.

REPAIR GUIDE
This repair guide is written to help make repairs or replace parts.
Simpler repairs where all parts are visible are not listed here’ i.e., replacing a hand grip or
a wheel. This guide is written for those repairs that contain “hidden” parts, or require a
specific technique.
Use the illustrations as reference. Refer to the corresponding figure for parts in the
pictures of the roto parts.
