ASSEMBLY
2. Ensure that you are standing on a flat surface and have secure footing.
3. Check that both the nylon cutting lines touch or go beyond the edge of the
guard.
4. If the lines are too short, pull on them and repeatedly press the line feed
button until they reach the edge of the guard.
Warning!
For your own safety, when adjusting the length of the line, avoid
coming into contact with the line cutting blade. It is extremely sharp. Keep
your hands well away from this area.
Switching On and Off
1. Connect the power cord to mains power.
2. To switch on, press in and hold the Safety interlock button (fig. 1, D).
3. While still holding the Safety interlock button, squeeze the Power switch (fig. 1, E).
4. Continue to hold the Power switch on as long as you continue to want to cut.
It is not necessary to continue to hold in the Safety interlock button once the
trimmer is running.
5. To switch the power off, release the Power switch.
Warning!
The tool will continue to run for approximately 5 seconds after it has
been switched off. Let the motor come to a complete stop before setting the
tool down.
Extending the Cutting Lines
To extend the cutting line during grass cutting,
1. Hold the trimmer in its normal cutting position while the motor is running at full speed.
2. Press the Line feed button into the ground.
3. The line will extend automatically and be trimmed to the most effective length
by the line cutting blade.
Trimming
1. Make sure ahead of time that the work area is free of rocks, debris, lines,
and other foreign objects.
2. Start the trimmer before approaching the grass to be cut.
3. If you need to release the cutting line, bump the spool button against the
ground to feed more. If too much line is fed out, and it projects beyond the
guard edge, it will be cut to the correct length by the line cutting blade.
4. Cut the grass by swinging the tool from right to left and move forward slowly,
keeping the trimmer inclined forwards at an angle of about 30 degrees. Light
cuts are better than heavy cuts as they allow the grass to fall away rather
than clogging the spool.
5. Start cutting nearest the mains power source and work away from it. This
makes it easier to avoid accidentally contacting the extension cord and
perhaps damaging it.
6. High grass should be cut in layers, always beginning at the top. Do not cut
damp or wet grass. Do not overload your tool.
7. Avoid wearing out the cutting line quickly by cutting against hard objects such
as stones, walls, fences, tree trunks, etc.
8. Watch out for kickbacks in the event of impact with hard objects.
9. After completion of the cutting job, keep the head close to the ground,
release the switch and wait for the motor to come to a compete stop. Place
the trimmer on the ground and immediately remove the power cord from the
mains supply.
Note:
Periodically clean out the grass from between the line spool and the rim of
the guard to prevent vibration.
