IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
a) FOR ALL DOUBLE-INSULATED CHAIN SAWS
1) Replacement Parts
When servicing use only identical replacement parts.
Caution: if you want change the saw chain, the new chain must have
the following specifications:
a) It has been designated as meeting the ANSI B175 kickback performance
requirements on that specific power head;
b) It has been designated as “Low-Kickback” saw chain in accordance with
ANSI B175.1; or
c) It is the saw manufacturer’s replacement catalogue (or equivalent) number.
NOTE:
Low-Kickback saw chain is a chain which has met the kickback
performance requirements of ANSI B175.1 when tested on the
representative sample of chain saws.
2) Polarized Chain saw Connections
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this chain saw has a polarized plug
(one blade is wider than the other and will require the use of a polarized
extension cord. The chain saw plug will fit into a polarized extension cord
only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the extension cord, reverse
the plug. If the plug still does not fit, obtain a correct polarized extension
cord. A polarized extension cord will require the use of a polarized wall
outlet. This plug will fit into the polarized wall outlet only one way. If the
plug does not fit fully into the wall outlet, reverse the plug. If the plug still
does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper wall outlet.
Do not change the equipment plug, extension cord receptacle, or extension
cord plug in any way.
b) FOR ALL CHAIN SAWS
1) Keep work area clean
Cluttered areas invite injuries. Do not start cutting until you have a clear
work area, secure footing, and a planned retreat path from the falling tree.
2) Consider work area environment.
Use extreme caution when cutting small size brush and saplings because
the slender material may catch the saw chain and be whipped toward you
or pull you off balance.
Do not operate a chain saw in a tree unless specifically trained to do so.
When cutting a limb that is under tension be alert for spring back so that
you will not be struck when the tension in the wood fibers is released.
Don’t expose chain saw to rain. Don’t use chain saw in damp or wet
locations. Do not use chain saw in presence of flammable liquids or gases.
3) Prevent electric shocks
Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces. For example: metal pipes,
wire fences.
4) Keep children away
Do not let visitors contact chain saw or extension cord. All visitors should
be kept away from work area.
!
WARNING!
When using electric chain saws, basic safety precautions should always be
followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury, including
the following:
