Replacing the chassis
Refer to the
Spectrum System Installation Guide
for complete racking instructions.
1. Rack mount the new MediaDirector.
2. Connect the Ethernet cables to the Network Switch used for the Spectrum system.
NOTE:
If you are using a DHCP server, the DHCP server will assign new IP addresses
to the public Ethernet interfaces on the MediaDirector. In SystemManager, you can
configure the MediaDirector to use either DHCP or static IP addresses. After removing
the original MediaDirector, you can configure the replacement to use the same IP
addresses. If you do not have a DHCP server, contact Harmonic Technical Support for
assistance.
3. Power up the replacement MediaDirector by plugging in both power cables.
NOTE:
Do not connect any MediaPort units at this time.
4. On the
System Diagram
page in SystemManager, verify that the new MediaDirector appears as
Connected
.
5. In SystemManager, view and clear any alarms that were created after the new MediaDirector was
connected.
6. Determine the firmware version running on the replacement MediaDirector.
NOTE:
All devices in a Spectrum system should be running the same firmware
version.
7. If necessary, upgrade firmware on the replacement MediaDirector to match that of the rest of your
system, and then reboot the MediaDirector.
