Step 3: Drill the holes
Drill holes at the marked places with a 14 mm rock drill. The holes should be 90 mm deep and be
drilled into reinforced concrete or solid masonry. Do not drill into mortar joints as they do not have
enough strength.
Step 4: Insert the expansion bolts
1.
Blow the holes clean after drilling.
2.
Loosen the nuts, washer and clamping ring and lay them to one side, so that they are
within reach during installation. Then insert strong expansion bolts into the holes.
IMPORTANT!
You may need to hammer the expansion bolts with a mallet. Screw a nut loosely
onto the expansion bolts. Screw the nut until the expansion bolt fills the nut evenly and tightly.
Do not tighten the nut so much that the screw anchor expander begins to expand. This means
that the screw anchor expander is driven in, without expanding, when you hit the screw. Do not
hit the expansion bolt hard to insert it, as this may damage the screw anchor expander. For correct
installation the entire anchor screw must be in the hole. If needed, pull out the expansion bolt and
drill a deeper hole.
NOTE:
If it is easy to pull out the expansion bolt by pulling on the nut, the expansion bolt has not
got sufficient grip. In this case you must move the entire product at least 15 cm and try again in a
new position.
