Risks in handling household
electrical appliances
WARNING

Touching live parts may result in severe
injury or death.
■
Only use the appliance indoors. Do
not use in wet rooms or in the rain.
■
Never expose the appliance to effects
of the weather (rain, etc.).
■
Do not operate or continue to use the
appliance, if it
–
shows visible signs of damage, for
example, the supply cord is defec-
tive.
–
starts smoking or there is a smell of
burning.
–
makes unfamiliar noises.
In this case, you should pull the mains
plug out of the socket and have the
appliance repaired (see “Service” on
page EN-16).

Connect the appliance only to an eas-
ily accessible socket, to allow you to
disconnect it quickly from the mains
in the event of a fault.
■
Keep the appliance, mains plug and
supply cord away from naked fl ames
and hot surfaces.
■
Do not kink, pinch or run over the sup-
ply cord with the appliance. This can
result in a break in the cord.
■
If the supply cord of the appliance is
damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, through the customer
service department or by a qualifi ed
specialist.
■
Never pull the mains plug out of the
socket by the supply cord, always hold
the mains plug itself.
■
Do not insert any objects into the in-
let or outlet openings. Instruct and
supervise children as appropriate.
■
When moving the appliance to an-
other location, do not pull it by the
supply cord or plug.
■
In the event of a fault, and before
cleaning and maintenance (e.g.
changing fi lter), always pull the mains
plug out of the socket.
■
If the appliance isn’t going to be
used for a long time, pull the mains
plug out of the socket.
■
Never touch the mains plug or oper-
ating elements with wet hands.
■
Do not operate the appliance in wet
rooms (e.g. bathrooms).
■
Do not operate the appliance in
rooms with a high fat/oil content in
the air (e.g. kitchen). This reduces the
lifespan of the fi lters and can dam-
age the appliance.
■
Ensure that no water seeps into the
appliance. Never immerse the appli-
ance in water.
■
If there is a humidifi er in the same
room, ensure that it is kept far enough
away so that no water mist can be
sucked in by the air purifi er. This could
otherwise lead to an electric shock or
short circuit.
■
Make sure that no vases or other con-
tainers fi lled with liquid are placed on
or near the appliance in order to pre-
vent liquid from entering the hous-
