Dehydrating Tips

Food Preparation

• Choose in-season fruits and vegetables for best flavor. Discard any with bruises or mold.

• Cut foods the same thickness, size, or shape to ensure even drying.
Pretreatment

• Most fruits and vegetables require pretreatment before drying. Blanch vegetables to prevent color loss or to break skins to shorten the drying

process. Dip fruits or potatoes in a solution of equal parts of lemon juice and water or use a fruit preservative following package directions.

• Drain and completely pat dry food before dehydrating.

• Marinate meat for jerky in refrigerator or season with jerky seasoning.
Determining Dryness

• Top Tray in Air Fryer will dehydrate faster. Switch Trays occassionally during dehydration. Check all Trays for doneness at the minimum

recommended time on chart below.

• All fruits should be able to bend and be slightly soft but not tacky, except for apples and bananas, which should be crisp.

• All vegetables should be crisp and easily broken.

• Jerky is dry when it cracks without breaking when bent.
