Examining the installation site
The H3C SR8800 routers can only be used indoors. To make sure the router operates correctly and to
prolong its service lifetime, the installation site must meet the requirements in this section.
Weight support
Evaluate the floor loading as compared to the actual weight of the router and its accessories (such as
rack, chassis, cards, and power supply units), and make sure the floor can support the weight of the rack
and the router chassis. For the weights of the router components, see " Appendix A Technical
specifications ."
IMPORTANT:
Consider expansion of your router in the future (for example, installing a new card) when evaluating the
floor loading.
Temperature
CAUTION:
If condensation appears on the router when you move it to a high-temperature environment, dry the router
before powering it on to avoid short circuits.
To ensure the normal operation of the router, make sure the room temperature meets the requirements
described in Table 8 .

Maintain appropriate humidity in your equipment room, as described in Table 9 .

Lasting high relative humidity can cause poor insulation, electricity creepage, mechanical property
change of materials, and metal corrosion. Lasting low relative humidity can cause washer contraction
and ESD and bring problems including loose captive screws and circuit failure.
