Tensioning/

Replacing V-Belts

Two V-belts transfer power from the motor to the 

cutterhead. To ensure efficient transfer of power 

to this system, make sure the V-belts are always 

properly tensioned and in good condition.

Note

: After the first 16 hours of belt life, re-tension 

the belts, as they will stretch and seat during this 
time.

 

If the V-belts are worn, cracked, or damaged, 

replace them. Always replace the V-belts with a 

matched set of two, or belt tension may not be 

equal among the belts, causing premature belt 

failure.

Consider replacing stock belts with Power Twist 

V-belts (see Page  36) to reduce vibration and 

noise, and increase belt lifespan.

machine (see Figure 49).

 Note: 

A collection of black belt dust inside 

motor compartment is normal during life of 
belts.
