pests. Fully enclose dry disks to prevent
rodent damage.

Bleeding the Hydraulics
High Pressure Fluid Hazard
Escaping fluid under pressure can have
sufficient pressure to penetrate the skin.
Check all hydraulic lines and fittings before
applying pressure. Use paper or cardboard,
not body parts, and wear heavy gloves to
check for suspected leaks. If injured, seek
immediate medical attention from a
physician familiar with this type of injury.
JIC Torque Chart
Over-Torque Leak Risk:
JIC fittings do not require high torque. Excess
torque causes leaks.
System Contamination Risk:
Always use liquid pipe sealant when adding
or replacing NPT pipe thread fittings. To
avoid cracking hydraulic fittings from over-
tightening, and to keep tape fragments from
clogging filters, do not use plastic sealant
tape. JIC and ORB fittings do not require
sealant.
Bleed only at JIC and NPT fittings. Never
attempt to bleed a quick disconnect fitting.
Avoid bleeding at ORB fittings.
Lift Hydraulics
Normally the lift hydraulics are bled at the factory
before shipping. Bleeding should not be required
other than to raise fully and hold the lever on for one
minute or until all cylinders extend fully.
Fold Hydraulics
Normally the fold hydraulic are bled at the factory
before shipping. Bleeding should not be required
other than to fold and hold the lever on for one
minute or until all cylinders reach the end of the
stroke.
Machine Damage Risk:
Do not fold or unfold without first raising the
planter completely.
If the fold and hold procedure does not clear the
problem, perform these steps:
1. Raise and unfold the planter.
2. Check fluid in the tractor hydraulic reservoir and
fill to the proper level.
3. Unpin all fold cylinders (one at each gauge
wheel).
4. Locate the rephase port (1) on each cylinder. The
rephase port is on the rod end of the gauge
wheel cylinders, and the base end of the center
fold cylinders.
5. Wire or otherwise safely support the cylinder with
the rephase port facing up, and that end of the
cylinder elevated.
6. Fully extend all cylinders at low flow. Hold the
circuit for one minute.
7. Fully retract all cylinders at low flow. Hold the
circuit for one minute.
8. Set the circuit to neutral.
9. Check all hydraulic hoses, cylinders, and fittings
for leaks. Recheck the tractor hydraulic reservoir.
Fill to the proper level.
10. Re-pin all cylinders.
Marker Hydraulics
Pinch, Crush, and Sharp Object Hazard
Markers can fall quickly, and unexpectedly,
if the hydraulics fail. Serious injury can
result if caught or struck by a folding or
unfolding marker. Never allow anyone near
the planter when folding or unfolding the
markers.
