The main undercarriage units should also be installed, as shown in the photo, before
the engine nacelle fairings are attached.
The engine nacelle fairings are two-part mouldings; the upper section is screwed to
the wing first, followed by the lower section.
Slide the upper nacelle fairing onto the wing from the front, and position it with the
motor shaft in the centre of the front opening. It should now be possible to fit a pan-
head self-tapping screw at the rear to hold the fairing in place.
Fit the lower nacelle fairing in such a way that the lateral plastic lugs engage in the
slots in the underside of the wing, and the hole lines up correctly with the retaining
nut. In this position fit the M4 plastic screw to secure the fairing. The propeller can
now be fitted on the motor shaft using the aluminium spinner. Repeat the procedure
with the second engine nacelle.
The next step is to glue the horns in the ailerons and landing flaps. Connect the pre-
formed pushrods to the horns, then connect the plain ends to the swivel pushrod
connectors mounted on the servo output arms.
Ensure that the swivel pushrod connectors are free to rotate smoothly, but without
significant slop. Apply a drop of thread-lock fluid to the hexagon nuts to prevent them
working loose.
To adjust the ailerons and flaps you will need to connect the RC system and switch
the transmitter and receiver on briefly. The landing flaps can be operated either by a
slider or a multi-position switch. Note that the flap servos should be offset from centre
when the landing flaps are at the “retracted” (neutral) position, as shown in the photo.
Tailplane and fins
Attach the elevators to the tailplane using the method described for the ailerons.
Glue the horns in the pairs of elevators and rudders, taking care to line up the linkage
holes in the horns with the hinge pivot axis.
Peel off the covering film from the joint areas of the tailplane and fins, as shown in
the photo.
Apply glue (UHU hart or UHU white glue) to the tips of the tailplane, and glue the fins
in place. Ensure that both fins are at right-angles to the tailplane, and parallel to each
other.
