User’s Guide
Tally (GPIO) Window
Below the tree window is the tally section of the configuration page.
It has two sections: inputs and outputs. By clicking on one of the input or output buttons, you
can configure the input or output.
(The NV9641A has no actual tally buttons. It does have a DB25 connector at the rear. The
buttons are present in the configuration page to allow you to configure the tally interface.)
If you are interested in configuring the tally interface, read Chapter 6,
GPIO
, on page 73.
Selection Buttons
Selection buttons are available only under the XY/MD model.
Selection buttons have several functions:
•
Select levels in X-Y mode.
•
Select MD destinations in MD mode.
•
Provide feedback (e.g., current source, preset source, and destination mnemonics, and
breakaway and lock status) when the operator is performing takes.
Selection buttons are configured with (1) a display index in the range 1–8 and (2) an MD destina-
tion device name. (Either of those items could be ‘none’. However, if the display index is ‘none’,
the button will be unusable.)
You should configure at least one selection button (for feedback). We recommend that you
configure
exactly 8
selection buttons (on any particular button page).
Although you can place any number of selection buttons on a given page, the NV9641A can use
only 8. Selection buttons beyond that will duplicate other selection buttons. Selection buttons
scroll through levels in X-Y mode or through MD destinations in MD mode. To scroll, the oper-
ator presses the up/down buttons.
The selection buttons scroll
modulo the number of buttons
present on the button page. For
example, if the page has 5 selection buttons, scrolling will cause the selection buttons to repre-
sent, and show, MD destinations 1–5, then 6–10, and 11–15 and so on. In X-Y mode, the
selection buttons would represent, and show, levels 1–5, then 6–10, and 11–15 and so on,
subject to the number of levels defined for a given destination.
Sometimes certain levels or MD destinations are undefined. The selection buttons for unde-
fined levels or undefined MD destinations appear dark.
Selection (of levels or MD devices) is affected by ‘Hold’ mode. (See the
Hold
button, page 29.)
The user may toggle Hold mode at any time. Using the selection buttons follows hold mode or
normal mode, whichever is in effect at the moment. Normal mode is the default
—
unless you
specify otherwise in the
Panel Options
.
