4.5.2 Check for Interference Voltage
With the connection of load, inductive and capacitive
interference voltages can be suppressed:
- For this purpose, test the voltage of the line /
phase regarded as disconnected and that of the
neutral conductor. The tester indicates an interfer-
ence voltage (e.g. 120 V)
- Press both push buttons at the back.
- The voltage to be tested is applied. In the case of
a coupled interference voltage, the tested voltage
will break down noticeably. In the case of operat-
ing voltage the previously displayed value remains
(e.g. 120 V).
Attention!
Interference voltage must be grounded before work
is continued.
4.5.3 Capacitor discharge
With the connection of load, capacitors can be
discharged:
- Test the capacitor voltage
- Press both push buttons at the back
- The capacitor will be discharged
4.5.4 Start-up Testing of Electricity Meters
The METRAVOLT VT 1500 is suitable for performing
start-up tests of digital electricity meters:
- Test the voltage at the output side of the meter
between phase and neutral conductor to this end.
The tester shows 230 V.
- Press and hold both push buttons at the back of
the instrument.
- The electricity meter display indicates approx.
6 - 15 W load.
This process has to be repeated for every phase.
Furthermore the phase sequence has to be checked.
