3.3 Testing of Display and Function (Self-Test)
In accordance with EN 51010-1 voltage testers must
be checked if they function correctly, briefly before
and whenever possible after use, for determining
the absence of voltage.
Step 1 – Display Test
The device must be switched off for the self-test.
Press and hold button
. All display segments
light up on the display, the backlight switches
between red and white. Additionally, all LEDs flash
as well as a buzzer sound can be heard.
If button
is released, “TEST“ is shown on the
display and the function test is required.
Step 2 – Function Test
Hold the test electrodes together. The display
shows „Rdy“ and the green LED „Ω“ lights up.
Thereby, the overall functions and the connection
line have been tested and the tester is ready for
use.
If the display shows „Err“ after 4 seconds, the
self-test was not successful. The voltage tester may
not be placed into operation!
Note:
The function of the battery-independent
red LED
is not checked by this self-test. Thanks
to its highly reliable design and the redundant
digital display, a separate test before use is not
neccessary.
Alternatively, test the correct function at a known
voltage source > 50 V AC and > 120 V DC.
Both systems must indicate on the display:
- the red LED
- the voltage value
Attention!
If one of the displays fails during the self-test, even
if only partial failure occurs, the voltage tester may
not be placed into operation!
3.4 Setting of the Electrode Length
The length of the test electrodes can be set to
16 mm or 4 mm:
Long:
turn the sleeve
right and push it back
until it snaps in place.
Short:
pull the sleeve
forward and secure
it by turning it to the left.
Note:
The CAT II / CAT IV marking shown in the field is not
relevant for voltage testers.
