8 CRIMPING OPERATION
8.1 PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS
Check the size of the hose and the type of fitting to be crimped, and choose the corresponding size of dies to be used. Cut the
hose to be joined.
THIS OPERATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT USING SUITABLE HOSE CUTTER THAT ASSURE A CUT THAT
IS CLEAN, PERPENDICULAR, AND FREE OF BURRS.
8.2 CRIMPING
Act intermittently on command selected (by pushing the lever to the right or pressing with the heel on the pedal) to bring the
dies on the ferrule of the fitting and check that their closure is made in the correct position. If the position is not correct,
reopen the crimper (pushing the lever to the left or press with the toe on the pedal), replace the ferrule and then repeat the
approach. Check the position, continue to pump to close the dies until you hear the intervention of the pump by-pass valve
(slowed heart).
DURING THE CRIMPING OPERATION, KEEP YOUR FINGERS AWAY FROM THE PRESSING ZONE OF THE
CRIMPER
. NEVER PUT YOUR FACE NEAR OR OVER THE TOOL WHILE THIS IS UNDER HYDRAULIC
PRESSURE!
To release the crimped hose, move to the left the lever or press with the toe on the pedal to discharge the pressure and allow
the oil to return to the reservoir and the crimper to return to the resting position. If necessary, rotate the cover and remove the
upper body of the crimper to facilitate the release when working on assemblies with particular shapes.
