REMOVAL AND REINSTALLATION

Caution

Many fasteners are located near coils or other parts which
are subject to damage or change in electrical characteristics
due to mechanical stress. Be careful not to move or stress
components while you are performing any of the following
procedures.

Caution

When you fasten any dc connectors, be certain that the plug
is centered directly on its corresponding jack and that the
polarity is correct. Do not make dc connections while power
is applied to the chassis.

Caution

Remove all power from the transmitter before removing or
inserting PA module, or removing or installing the metering
board from the power amplifier system. Also, remove all dc
power from the PA module before removing PA cover or PA
inner PCB cover

Note

Components on the pc boards require special tools and
techniques for replacement. Glenayre recommends that any
defective pc board be returned to the factory for exchange.

8.1 Fan Removal

Refer to Figure 8-1, for information on how to remove individual fans from the fan panel.

8.2 Transmitter Chassis Removal

To remove the transmitter chassis from the equipment rack:

1.

Deenergize the transmitter power source and disconnect the large red and black power
leads from the metering board,

2.

Disconnect the signal and RF cables from the metering board and the rear panel of the
transmitter chassis.

3.

Remove the exciter from its shelf of the transmitter chassis.

4.

Remove the PA module form its shelf of the transmitter chassis.

5.

Support the chassis while loosening the front mounting screws.

6.

The transmitter chassis may now be removed form the equipment rack. This procedure
is complete.
