INSTALLATION
4.1 Installation
Installation of the transmitter and related equipment should be done by properly qualified
personnel, to ensure that the overall installation meets requirements of the local codes. This
section provides information common to all installations. Transmitter setup is mostly done
through the user interface software, which is covered in a separate manual. This section
does describe some preliminary steps necessary to accomplish the more detailed
VDT-based setup.
4.1.1 Precautions and Hazards
DANGER
Disconnect ac power before working with this equipment.
DANGER
The power amplifier is heavy. Follow precautions for heavy
lifting.
4.1.2 Test Equipment and Tools Required
Common hand tools are required for disassembly and reassembly. An RFI-immune
voltmeter may be required for voltage measurement. An in-line current meter may also be
useful for troubleshooting. A 50 ohm test load rated for at least 250 watts, an RF wattmeter
rated and scaled to measure 250 watts, and appropriate 50-ohm, RF coaxial cables are
useful to when testing the transmitter and verifying its RF output calibration.
4.1.3 Component and Adjustment Locations
The PA front panel contains no fuses, switches, or adjustments. When the PA top cover is
removed and the back door is open, all user adjustment locations are accessible. All adjust-
ments are made at the factory; unauthorized changes could adversely affect transmitter
performance and terms of warranty.
WARNING
Do not remove or install interior or exterior PA covers while
dc voltage is applied to the PA. Doing so can result in perma-
nent damage to the unit.
