Glider categories and guidelines a
The German Hanggliding and Paragliding Association (DHV) and its safety division
have developed guidelines which are based on many years of analysing paraglider
accidents and on the experience of
fl ying schools, fl ying instructors and safety o ffi cers.
These guidelines should help pilots to select the appropriate glider classi fi cation for their
particular level of fl ying ability. The information below relates to the classi fi cation in EN/LTF-
certi fi cation. There is also further information on the website of the relevant licensing body.
The complexity of the paraglider system means that it is not possible to give any more than a
partial description of the glider’s
fl ight behaviour and reactions to disturbances. Even a small
alteration in individual parameters can result in fl ight behaviour which is markedly modi fi ed and
different from the description given.

The Yeti Tandem 3 37 received EN-A and the Yeti Tandem 3 41 received EN-B classi fi cation in
the fi nal classi fi cation by the licensing body.

characteristics. Gliders with good resistance to departures from normal fl ight.
Yeti Tandem 3 41: A paraglider with good passive safety and forgiving fl ying characteristics, with

The Yeti Tandem 3 37 is suitable for use as a training glider.
The Yeti Tandem 3 41 is generally suitable for use as a training glider (as long as an EN-B glider
is permitted for training in your country).
