The throttle valve position signal is especially im-

portant at the small valve openings. These areas

are also where the sensor works more frequently,

and therefore they require more frequent checks

after a high number of kilometres run.

To check the sensor and related circuit, proceed

as follows:

- Connect the diagnostic tester.

Set the switch to "

" with switch to "

RUN

" and

side stand raised.

Select the tester menu on the «

ERRORS

» func-

tion.

Check whether the control unit has detected any

failures relating to the throttle valve position signal.

YES go to 6 NO go to 2

Specific tooling

Scooter diagnosis and tester

- Select the diagnostic tester menu on the "

PA-

RAMETERS

" function.

Check whether the control unit recognises the ex-

treme positions:

Throttle valve to minimum

Throttle valve to maximum

YES go to 4 NO go to 3

- Check the adjustment of the throttle valve control flexible transmissions. Fix or replace, if required.

YES go to 2

- Gradually open the throttle valve, check that the mV value increases progressively and proportionally

with the opening variation.

YES go to 5 NO go to 6

- The throttle valve position signal is conforming.

- Connect the special tool to the injection system.

Do not connect the tool to the control unit.

Disconnect the throttle valve position sensor connector.

Check the continuity between the connector's terminals and the relevant pins on the control unit.
