Gestetner F104/F104L
Q15. What is the difference between Internet Fax (T.37) and IP-Fax (T.38)?
A15. Internet Fax is a function whereby the unit can send and receive e-mail with any other
internet fax. IP-Fax (Internet Protocol) involves transmission and reception of fax documents
to/from an IP-Fax compatible fax machine via a network by specifying IP addresses. IP-Fax
transmission/receptions occurs in real time, with confirmation of receipt, while Internet Fax
requires messages being sent through a mail server. The Gestetner F104 Series is capable
of both Internet Fax and IP-Fax communication.
Q16. Can I use the Color Scan key to transmit a document in PDF or JPEG format to another
F104L or F104 (with NIC FAX Unit installed)?
A16. If the fax machines at both ends are equipped with the NIC FAX Unit, the color scanning
function and PDF format file exchange is not possible. If you attempt such transmissions,
document will not be received and an error report will be printed on the transmitting and
receiving end.
Q17. What purpose does the Gestetner F104L’s “E-mail Message” User Function Key serve?
A17. It is now possible to enter a message along with the subject of an e-mail. On the F104L,
the “E-mail Message” User Function Key is preassigned, so pressing this key allows you to
insert a message line up to 150 characters.
