Steer Cylinder
How to
Remove the Steer Cylinder
When removing a hose assembly
or fitting, the O-ring on the fitting
and/or hose end must be replaced
and then torqued to specification
during installation. Refer to
Section Two, Hydraulic Hose and
Fitting Torque Specifications.
1 Block the wheels at the non-steer end of the
machine.
2 Remove the steer cylinder hose guard bracket
from the machine.
3 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the
steer cylinder barrel-end pivot pin. Remove the
pin.
Note the quantity and location of
the spacers when removing the
pivot pin.

5 Remove the steer cylinder from the machine.
6 Tag, disconnect and plug the hydraulic hoses
from the steer cylinder. Cap the fittings.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.
Component damage hazard.
Hoses can be damaged if they are
kinked or pinched.
