Maintop Burner Alignment
For proper operation of the burner, alignment of the
orifi ce holder, orifi ce, and air/gas mixer tube must be
correct. The alignment can be checked by placing
a 7-mm or 9/32-in. nut driver over the orifi ce to
exaggerate the angle. The nut driver should stand
straight, indicating the alignment and gas injection
angle is correct. A slight downward pressure may
be necessary to seat the nut driver over the orifi ce
retainer ring.
If an angle adjustment is necessary, remove the
burner cap, head, and bowl to inspect the orifi ce
holder and the brackets that hold them in place.
Adjust as necessary. A misaligned burner may result
in uneven fl ames around the burner head.
Low Flame Simmer Adjustment
Low fl ame setting adjustments must be made with
2 other burners in operation on a medium setting.
This prevents the low fl ame from being set too low,
resulting in the fl ame being extinguished when the
other burners turn on.
1. Turn on all surface burners.
2. Turn the knob on the burner being adjusted to
LO (Low) or SIM (Simmer).
3. Remove the knob and insert a small fl at blade
screwdriver into the valve shaft and turn it
clockwise to fully tighten the bypass screw.
Repeat this process for each screw.
Testing the Flame Stability
Test 1: Quickly turn the knob from HI to LOW. If the
low fl ame goes out, increase the fl ame size and test
again.
Test 2: For each burner being adjusted, quickly open
and close the oven door, followed by the storage
drawer while observing the fl ame. If the fl ame is
extinguished by the air currents created by the
door or drawer movement, continue adjusting the
bypass screw (turn counterclockwise) for a larger
fl ame. Repeat door and drawer openings until the
fl ame is stable.
4. For the tri-ring burner, remove the knob and
insert a small fl at blade screwdriver into the
small hole to the right of the valve shaft and
turn down the bypass screw.
Note: If the fl ame appears too low or unstable,
adjust the valve bypass screw slowly (turn
counterclockwise) until a stable fl ame exists for
each burner. Make sure 2 other burners are turned
on to medium.

rectangle bridge burner (on some models)
