DE-SCALING THE MACHINE
Avoiding the Deposition of Scale
After regular use, hard water can cause mineral build-up in and on many of the inter-
nal components, reducing the water flow and power of the machine, and affecting the
quality of your coffee.
We advise de-scaling the machine on a regular basis (every 2-3 months). Do not use
any corrosive chemicals as these could damage the metal and seals of the machine.
Instead you may use a mixture of white vinegar and water or, what‘s better, the Gastro-
back Premium De-Scaler (Art.-No.: 98175), containing special additives for preserving
the metal surfaces thus maintaining high performance of our machines. Mix 100ml of the
Gastroback Premium De-Scaler with up to 2000ml of clear water.
Because of the natural variations in water hardness and usage of the machine, we can
only give some guidelines for the frequency of de-scaling the machine. See the following
table as a rule of thumb:
Recommended frequency of de-scaling
Hardness
Litres
Weeks
low
every 150 litres
every 16 to 24 weeks
medium
every 90 litres
every 8 to 10 weeks
high
every 60 litres
up to 4 weeks
