PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

Cleaning the card reader at regular intervals will help to extend the life of the card reader and help
to maintain trouble-free service in your Series 1000.  To clean the card reader, follow these steps:

For Magnetic Card Readers:

1.

Use a GASBOY cleaning card.  The cards are available in boxes of 50 cards (P/N C08757 =
1 box).  Each card is individually wrapped in foil packaging to keep the cleaning solvent from
evaporating.

2.

Insert the cleaning card into the mag card reader with the fuzzy side facing down.  Insert and
remove the card several times.

3.

Turn the card around (fuzzy side still facing down) and insert and remove the card several
times.  By turning the card around you will utilize the entire cleaning area.

4.

Clean the card reader once a week.  Failure to do so could result in premature failure of the
card reader.

For Optical Card Readers:

1.

Wrap a lint free cloth (e.g. cheesecloth) around an access card.

2.

Insert the card lengthwise and move it side to side.

3.

The card reader should be cleaned once a week.  Failure to do so could result in premature
failure of the card reader.

Clean the clear face shield with a soft, clean, damp cloth as often as necessary.  Avoid abrasive
cleaners and rough paper towels for they may tend to scratch.
