Flying the Missed Approach
Upon reaching the Missed Approach Point, the GTN 7XX unit continues to
give guidance along an extension of the final course segment (FAF to MAP) until
you manually initiate the missed approach procedure (as mentioned previously
in reference to the “SUSP” advisory).
NOTE:
If the unit is not configured for a CDI key, then the “activate GPS missed
approach” will only resume automatic waypoint sequencing. The user must
switch to GPS navigation, if desired, by using their external source selection
method (this is typical an EFIS system).
1. When the MAP is reached, a pop-up will appear.

for guidance to the Missed Approach Hold Point.
The Activate GPS Missed Approach function is the same for the onscreen
controls or a remote switch. This function can be selected using the MENU
button on the flight plan page when the aircraft is between the FAF and the
MAP. Once selected, the GTN will continue to provide guidance along the final
approach course. Upon reaching the MAP, the unit will automatically sequence
to the first leg of the missed approach. This is used when a pilot needs to execute
the missed approach prior to reaching the MAP.
