Understanding your SmartPower remote control
UNDERSTANDING YOUR SMARTPOWER REMOTE CONTROL
How to use your Remote
Your SmartPower Remote Control switches the energizer ON or OFF from anywhere the fence is powered.
1.
For an All Live Wire system: push the earth stake into the ground (for an Earth Wire Return system: place the earth
stake on the earth wire). For reliable performance it is IMPORTANT to achieve a good earth.
2.
Place the brass terminal on the live fence wire.
3. The Remote will indicate energizer pulses by regular, short
fl
ashes of the LED.
4. Push the bu on to switch the energizer
ON
(Normal Opera on) or
OFF
(Standby).
Your Remote LED gives a long
fl
ash (0.8 of a second) to indicate the signal has been transmi ed.
Energizer Standby mode
The energizer indicates it is going into or out of Standby by the internal buzzer sounding for 2 seconds. Whilst in Standby
the buzzer sounds every 8 seconds. The ON/Standby light is solid red and all LCDs will display ( ). If the energizer is in
alarm and in Standby the buzzer alternates between being on con nuously for 7 seconds, then o
ff
for 1/2 second.
Remote Control damage
Damage to the Remote Control can be caused if you:
a)
use the Remote on a fence not powered by a SmartPower Energizer or
b)
reverse the connec on by placing the earth stake on the live fence wire and the brass terminal on the earth.
If your Remote Control does not switch the Energizer ON or OFF, check:
1.
You are ge ng a good earth connec on with your Remote Control. Use damp ground or connect the remote earth
stake to a larger earth, like earth wire or iron fence stake.
2.
The Energizer earth is good.
3.
There is not a large short on the fence near where you are trying to operate the remote control. The remote is like a
small energizer. The pulses will power through small shorts but have di
ffi
culty with large shorts.
4.
The fence connec ons are good. Fault
fi
nd connec ons by beginning at the Energizer and progressively working
towards where the Remote does not work. A Digital Volt Meter (G5030) will assist by iden fying a drop in voltage.
Use Joint Clamps (G6030) to ensure good wire connec ons.

Remote Control electrical interference
The energizer has four sensi vity se ngs at which the energizer will detect the Remote Control signal. The more sensi ve
the se ng is, the greater the opera ng range of Remote Control. However, at the high sensi vity levels, the energizer
will be more sensi ve to detec ng unwanted electrical signals (interference) from nearby electrical equipment such as
overhead power lines, military ac vity, radio frequencies,
etc. When the energizer detects electrical interference
the ON/Standby light
fl
ashes red and the energizer ignores
the Remote Control signal. In this event, reduce the
sensi vity via the switches on the back of the energizer
un l the light stops
fl
ashing.
Remote Control codes
The energizer and Remote Control have four di
ff
erent
iden ty se ngs. In the event that your neighbour
has a Remote Control (as a result your neighbour can
uninten onally switch your energizer in or out of Standby)
you can change the code to another se ng via the switches
on the back of the energizer and inside the
Remote Control.
Note: the Remote Control code and energizer code must
match in order for the Remote Control to work.
Remote Control disable
The Remote Control Disable op on sets the energizer to ignore all
Remote Control signals and will prevent the energizer from switching
into Standby. This feature can be used when it is important that the
fence must not be accidentally switched into Standby, eg. in a farm
security installa on. The Remote Control Disable op on is set via
switch 2 on the back of the energizer.
IMPORTANT
:
When in Standby, mains power is s ll supplied to internal wiring, but the fence is not live.
