CompuGen 3250: generating a pattern using GageBit
This section will show you how to generate a digital pattern using GageBit software.
IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU PURCHASE A PLEATED FOIL CABLE AND A
BNC BREAKOUT BOARD TO MAKE THIS PART OF THE VERIFICATION EASIER
Note:
For more detailed information on using GageBit, refer to the
GageBit
Manual
which is available on the
Gage CompuGen ISA CD in Documentation
Æ
Manuals.
Running GageBit
Note that the system requirements for using GageBit are a Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP, Pentium-based
computer with 64 MB of RAM for Windows 95/98/ME, 128 MB of RAM for Windows 2000/XP, SVGA or
better graphics card and monitor, and 25 MB minimum (64 MB recommended) of available hard disk space.
A CompuGen 3250 card must be present in order to output data.
You can run GageBit by selecting the shortcut installed:
Start: Programs: Gage: GageBit: GageBit
The left-hand panel corresponds to Digital Output (as displayed on the screen). The default pattern loaded is a
simple counter with a pattern length of 1024 words.
If you click on the
Generate
button and you have the outputs connected to an oscilloscope through the Pleated
Foil Cable and a BNC Breakout Board, you should be able to verify that each of the outputs is behaving
properly.
