6.4. Test Menus (Fault Finding & Checking)

This is the toggle switch test. Move all toggle switches on the
9Z case to all positions, the boxes associated with them will
become black when test is complete (e.g. SA is Switch A)
This is the digital trims test. Operate all the digital trimmers.
The top line corresponds to low trim rate (i.e. Light press on
trim lever), the bottom line of boxes to high trim rate (i.e. Hard
push on trim lever). The boxes become black when the test is
complete (e.g. 4L is Channel 4 Trim pushed left, 3U is
Channel 3 Trim pushed up etc.)

This is the voltmeter test. You’ll need two calibrated power
supplies: 8.5v for TX main battery and 5v for receiver through
DSC DIN connector PIN 6. You should confirm that the
display is within 0.2v of the actual power supply.
This is the tachometer test. You can use a fluorescent light or
CRT TV (i.e. Not LED or Plasma). Hold the tachometer close
to the TV or fluorescent tube. You should see the following on
the screen:
1500rpm PAL TV (Europe/UK)
1800rpm NTSC TV (USA)
3000rpm fluorescent light at 50Hz (Europe/UK)
3600rpm fluorescent light at 60Hz (USA)
This is a test of the pins on the transmitter’s IO ports. You can
physically set each pin high or low and the change will be
shown on the B Error line (A Error is set and constant from
the time you entered the test screen). As per standard
notation the Least Significant Bit is at the right. For reference
see below:
bit7 = PLL connector, RFCONT pin
bit6 = PLL connector, CLOCK pin
bit5 = PLL connector, DATA pin
bit4 = PLL connector, LE pin
bit3 = CAMPac connector, Pin.2
bit2 = CAMPac connector, Pin.3
bit1 = DIN connector, Pin.3
bit0 = RF module connector, METER pin
LCD display test that blinks the screen on and off. Dead or
stuck pixels will show up as unchanging areas that do not
blink.
Test of the edit keys around the LCD display. Press each key
(A to R ) and ‘OK’ will be displayed if the test is successful.
Once all the keys have been tested the set may auto power
down (WC2) or you may return to the service menu.
