Selecting an Appropriate Location
Select an appropriate location where you want to mount the
device. If possible, the antenna should not be covered by metal
parts and should be freely visible. ComPoints should be mounted
in the center of the planned wireless cell. Usually, the quality of the
radio transmission increases the higher the antenna is mounted.
ComPoint antennas and clients should always be mounted paral-
lel to each other and vertically to the ground. In exceptional cases,
it can be advantageous to mount them horizontally, e.g. if the
transmission is performed through a ceiling or floor to another
story.
Screwing on the External Standard Antenna
To set up a radio link via the ComPoint, you can use the external
standard antenna shipped with the device.
1. Screw the standard antenna onto the connector designed
for this purpose. Adjust the antenna to the desired posi-
tion.
2. If you wish to use an antenna with a TNC plug of the Funk-
werk Enterprise Communications product portfolio, use
the adapter from the RSMA plug to the TNC jack (CAB-
AC-RSMA.S-TNC.B, optionally available) as adapter.
Connection to the Ethernet
1. Take one end of an RJ45 patch cable and insert it into the
network jack of the ComPoint.
Note:
Standard patch cables 1:1 or cross-over cables (RJ45-RJ45)
are designed symmetrically. It is therefore not possible to
confuse the cable ends.
2. Insert the other end into a free Ethernet port.
