Note
Please read the User’s Guide care-
fully prior to installation of the device.
Any damage or claims are subject
to the latest version of the “General
Terms of Delivery for Products and
Services of the Electric Industry“.
Application
The fire alarm devices of type
2014/2 and 2014/2-GLU are
designed for manual triggering of
alarms in hazardous areas. The
type of protection allows the alarm
to be operated of the zones 1 and
2, 21 und 22.
Design
The enclosure and the “increased
safety” class of protection of the
terminal room guarantee hazardous
area protection. For reasons of
explosion protection the switch
contact and the modules are gas
tight embedded. The housing is
completely made of plastic. This
ensures the high level of corrosion
protection as well as Class II and III.
No equipotential bonding necessary.
Further design characteristics are
profound ruggedness and minimum
8 mm thick walls.
Mounting
The fire alarm should be mounted
on a vertical, fixed surface (wall,
girder, etc.). The outer dimensions
and the fastening measurements
can be found in fig. 1.
The mounting surface (wall, girder)
must be able to provide a stable
platform for the fastening feet, and
it must be able to carry the weight
of the device of approx. 1.8 kg on
a long-term basis. For fastening
purposes, screws with a diameter
of 5 mm, washers and spring lock
washers should be used. Distance
between ground and push button
1400 ± 200 mm.
Note
The fire alarm housing consists of
two parts:
a) Lower part of the housing
(terminal room)
b) Upper part of the housing (cover
with door)
Proceed as follows to mount
the device:
1) Produce the fastening bores
according to figure 1
2) Place the device horizontally on
its back, loosen the special lock
of the door using a screw driver
for hexagon socket screws (size
4 mm), and open the door.
3) Use a screwdriver to loosen four
cover screws and remove the
cover, including the door, from
the lower part of the housing.
Warning!
Make sure the cover
seal is clean.
4) Mount the lower part of the hou-
sing (terminal room) on the wall,
using the fastening screws,
washers and spring lock washers.
Installation
In case of factory fitted cable
glands the attached operating
instructions have to be considered.
If, due to the use of another con-
nection cable, the cable gland has
to be replaced, please observe
item number 10 in the User Infor-
mation chapter. The area surroun-
ding the cable gland should be
kept clean, and the connecting
cable should be laid in a straight
line in this area.
Proceed as follows to connect the
fire alarm cable:
• Loosen and remove the cable
gland pressure screw
• Remove isolating outer cable
sheath (for installation of the ter-
minal room) and guide it through
the pressure screw and the
cable gland.
• Remove approx. 5-6 mm of the
isolation from the end of the
conductors, in order to establish
good electrical contact. The wiring
on the inside of the terminal room
must not reach the locking system
of the button, in order to ensure
the locking system works properly.
The conductor isolation of the
cable must extend so far
towards the terminal that the
conductive parts are separated
by at least 3 mm of air and cree-
pance distance.
• Use only suited tools for instal-
ling the cable glands.
• The cable connection is suited
only for permanent cables.
• How to install the conductors is
shown on the wiring diagrams
on the module housings in the
terminal room. The modules are
factory wired to the terminal.
After installation of the connecting
cable, place the cover in parallel on
the connecting housing.
The four cover screws must be
tightened evenly, step by step and
crosswise with 3,0 to 3,2 Nm.
Insert glass or an information label.
Close the door and screw the
special lock tight.
Insert (replace) glass
The glass can be inserted into the
open door without the use of tools.
In order to do this, you must loosen
the special door lock and open the
door. Then insert the glass carefully
in both guide rails on the backside
of the door.
Warning!
(When the door is open
the glass may be slanting slightly.)
Close the door and screw the
special lock tight.
When replacing a broken glass, all
splinters of glass should be meticu-
lously removed (if necessary using
a brush), in order to avoid injuries
and make sure the door can be
closed without problems.
Labelling
The fire alarm should be labelled
according to all applicable stan-
dards.Upon delivery, factory-provi-
ded labels for the fire alarm were
included in the box. The fitter must
select the labels according to the
operating condition or the demands,
and fasten them on the device.
Resetting the button (locking
version)
The button can only be reset while
the door is open, and with the same
screwdriver for hexagon socket
screws (size 4 mm), with which the
door was opened. Open the door
and insert the screwdriver into the
hexagon socket screw below the
trigger button, and turn slightly to
the right, this releases the depressed
button to its original position.
Change the button function
The trigger button may be changed
to “locking” or “non-locking”, accor -
ding to figure 4.
• locking:
Having been pressed, the button
stays depressed and can be reset
by the unlock-screw (hexagon
socket screw) only.
• non-locking:
Having been pressed, the button
immediately returns to its original
position (push button).
• Modification:
Open the housing according to the
description. On the backside of the
upper part of the housing you will
see a reset spring.
a) In the case of the locking function,
the spring pulls the locking bar
towards the button.
