Changing the Time Constant
The default setting of the time constant is “0.4 seconds”.
If a stable monitoring is difficult with excessive change in the baseline due to excessive body motion of
the patient or an interference noise, such as AC frequency, changing the time constant to “0.1 second”
allows relatively stable monitoring.
CAUTION

When changing the time constant to “0.1 seconds”, the lower frequency characteristic
becomes 1.6Hz ±25%. This setup does not meet IEC 60601-2-27 standard. It may lead to a
change in the ECG waveform and the ST measurement value may be especially affected.
Fukuda Denshi recommends “0.4 seconds” setting in normal use.

The display screen in normal use does not indicate the selection of time constant. Make sure
to take measures, such as marking on the LX-8100/LX-8100(G), to distinguish whether the
selection of time constant has changed.
1. After entering the password, the following preset screen will appear.
2. Display the ECG setup screen.
Make sure that the “ECG” is highlighted, and then press the “Enter”
key to switch to the ECG setup screen.
3. While the “Time Const.” is highlighted on the ECG setup screen, the “Time Constant”
setting change, 0.1S or 0.4S, is available.
The time constant setup is highlighted.
Check the ECG waveform on the receiving monitor screen.
On this screen, the setting change can be performed, but the
changed setting cannot be stored without the following backup
procedure.
(If turning off the equipment, the setting will return to the previous
one.)
To backup the changed setting, keep pressing the “
▼
” key until the
“ ” icon is highlighted as “ ” and then press the “Enter” key.
By pressing the “Enter” key when “ ” is highlighted, the ECG
setting will be stored. Therefore, this setting will be activated even
if the equipment is turned off and then is turned on.
