4.2

Switching the storage subsystem on/off

The PRIMERGY S10 storage subsystem is switched on automatically when the
CPU is switched on (TERMPWR). The “Local/Remote” switch must be set to the
“Remote” position (standard setting).

If you encounter problems, check the connections to the CPU and the position
of the “Local/Remote” switch (see also chapter “Troubleshooting” on page 25).

(1) Power LED (green) signals that power is on.

(2) Disk LED (yellow) indicates activity on the SCSI bus (access to the backup

units).

(3) “local-remote-ON” switch (service switch) controls the on/off function and

can only be accessed from the outside using a special tool.

In the remote position („right“ standard setting), the storage subsystem is
switched on and off from the CPU via TERMPWR.

In the local position („left“ intended only for error diagnostics), the storage
subsystem is switched on as soon as power is available, regardless of the
operating status of the CPU.
