"Encryption" tab

The 

Encryption

 tab permits encryption and specifies the coding/decoding key.

Meaning of entries and buttons

Enryption (WEP
security)

Specifies the encryption type. You can select a 40-bit or a 104-bit key. If
you set encryption, you can only communicate with AccessPoints and
stations that use the same encryption.

Create Keys manually

Specifies the encryption key. Depending on the encryption used, you
must enter the exact number of characters in accordance with the table:

Alphanumeric

5 characters

13 characters

Hexadecimal

10 characters

26 characters

As soon as you have saved the keys, they are shown hidden.

Alphanumeric

Alphanumeric characters are permitted for the keys.

Hexadecimal

Hexadecimal characters are permitted for the keys.

Use WEP Key

Specifies which of the four keys is used for transmitting the data on the
wireless LAN. Click on the arrow next to this field and select the key. The
AccessPoint and the stations with which you want to communicate must
use the same keys in the same position.
